Why a 20-year-old feels we should get back to old-fashioned dating

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Truecaller, Tinder... technology makes our love (and, er, lust) lives easy. Or so you think. Here’s why going back to the good ol’ days of landline phone calls and no Internet might be a huge relief...

♦ You wouldn’t have to download a bunch of apps to get a person to date.

You needn’t type while eating and describe the salt content in your food because “24x7 in touch” was not equal to “undying love”.

There’s a certain thrill in the chase. From getting to talk to getting their number to meeting secretly. “Netflix and chill” in the very first text shows just how lazy you are.

Because your couple selfie on Instagram wouldn’t get liked by your partner’s fourth ex, which in turn wouldn’t bother you.

Because your relationship status on Facebook and when exactly to update it wouldn’t be a life-threatening question plaguing you.

Since you haven’t been WhatsApping and Snapchatting all day, you would actually have something to say to each other when you meet in person.

You wouldn’t have to prove that you love your partner more than your friends by uploading mushy pictures with her milliseconds after you update a fun picture with your friends.

Long distance wouldn’t be synonymous with breaking up.

If someone you like wished you on your birthday, you’d be on top of the world because Facebook wouldn’t have had anything to do with it.
