Wild wild web
Like all teens, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s elder daughter loves posting pictures on Facebook and Instagram. But the photos Jhanvi posted recently have gotten her into a world of trouble. Photographs clicked at a party were splashed across the media with headlines like ‘Jhanvi’s Wild Ways’ and ‘Sridevi’s Daughter Caught Drunk’. In one of the images from the recent post, Jhanvi was seen pouting with a girlfriend and holding her long tresses away from her face. In another, she was clicked getting ‘cosy’ with a boy. When Sri heard of these photographs getting leaked, she is said to have thrown a hissy fit. “Sri has made Jhanvi delete all the objectionable photos from her social media accounts and her Internet privileges have been taken away. Jhanvi is only allowed to use the Net for her studies and Sri now monitors her usage,” says a family member.
Now that she won’t be distracted by social media, Jhanvi can get back to preparing for her Bollywood launch. There is a buzz that Karan Johar will launch the 17-year-old, but sources close to Dharma Productions insist that this is not a done deal: “Sri is still wooing Karan, who hasn’t confirmed.” Interestingly, Dharma wasn’t Sridevi’s first choice. She was keen that Jhanvi get a break with Yash Raj Films, but after a year of no commitment, she decided to approach Dharma.

Manoj the producer
This year, Manoj Bajpayee finally realises a dream he’s had for years — to produce a film. The film in question is a psychological thriller helmed by debutant Mukul Abhyankar. It brings together Manoj with his Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar co-star Tabu after more than a decade. Manoj had hit a major roadblock even before the film went on the floors. “He couldn’t raise the money from financiers. So, he had no choice but to turn to old friend and collaborator Neeraj Pandey. With Neeraj on board, the film is back on track with financiers prepared to fund the project,” says a source close to the production. The film is slated to hit theatres next year.
BEHIND THE SCENES
In Bollywood, relationships and insecurities go hand in hand. Even the most secure people can be plagued with self-doubt when they are in a significant romantic relationship. And it doesn’t help if your boyfriend, also an A-list actor, is working with a pretty young newcomer. So, it’s not surprising that this A-list actress has been keeping tabs on her new boyfriend who was shooting up north. The filming of the play-to-film adaption has kept the new couple apart for months and the actress hasn’t been happy about the forced separation. She couldn’t take the time to visit him because of her own work commitments, which include films with two senior actors. So, she did the next best thing: made her manager call her boyfriend’s entourage — spotboy and make-up artiste and even the film’s ADs — to keep tabs on what was happening on the sets. So, if her boyfriend shot a close-up with his co-star, she knew by the end of the day. But it seems like all her insecurities are unfounded because the newbie is head-over-heels with the co-star of her blockbuster romantic film that released last year.
