Kangana Ranaut seems to be calling a truce with Deepika Padukone. The actress, in a recent interview with Sadhguru, said she was embarrassed when the Karni Sena threatened to chop off Deepika’s nose during the agitations against Padmaavat.
Kangana said: “I am a Rajput myself and when the whole Padmaavat episode took place…I was embarrassed.”
She said criminals could not be associated with religion.
Kangana had even refused to sign a Deepika Bachao petition, reportedly saying that she was wary of signing a petition written by Shabana Azmi.
The actress had said she had explained to Anushka that Deepika had all her support. However, she mentioned that she was wary of Shabana Azmi’s investment in Leftwing vs Rightwing politics. She said she had her own set of ideas and opinions about the current situation in the country, she was on the fence about many things and being a part of a feminist movement led by someone who “character assassinated me” when she was bullied was one of them.
She had said Anushka understood, but she was also glad that they reached out to her. “Like I said, Deepika has all my support — I am an individual perfectly capable of supporting who I like without anyone’s support,” Kangana had said around the time of Padmaavat’s release when Shabana Azmi had petitioned actresses to show support to Deepika.
