Kajol and Karan Johar penned heartfelt notes to mark 22 years of the 2001 blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham on Thursday, with the former recalling Aryan Khan’s onscreen debut as a child actor and how Karan fainted on the sets because of the unbearable heat.

“Another acronym but yes another long lasting memory,” Kajol wrote alongside a reel featuring stills from the film on Instagram.

Reminiscing about the improvisations made by Yash Johar to accommodate all the stars on the sets of the "gigantic starrer”, Kajol recalled, “This was @___aryan___ 's debut on screen.. ! It was also I think my first comeback.”

In the film, Aryan played the younger version of Shah Rukh’s Rahul Raichand, sharing screen space with Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was shot across multiple locations including the The Great Pyramids in Giza, Egypt and Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire, England.

Reflecting on the memorable journey, Kajol said, “And the first and only time I stood in front of the pyramids and truly felt them with my soul...so yes this was a truly HUGE film in every which way, in life and cinema.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar thanked all those who had played a crucial role in the making of the film.

“Eternally grateful to magnificent & magnanimous cast - Amit ji, Jaya ji, shahrukh bhai, kajol, duggu and bebo and all other special people in the cast and crew for just making this journey the most memorable one,” read the caption to his reel.

Extending his wishes to the audience, Karan wrote, “My annual reminder of “It’s all about loving your family…and my audience who have kept the spirit of #K3G alive even 22 years later... Thank you today and always.”

The same reel was uploaded on the official Instagram account of Dharma Productions with the caption, “22 years of a film that beautifully reminded you that ‘it’s all about loving your parents.”

Kareena Kapoor also posted a reel on her Instagram featuring some of her iconic moments as Pooh in the film. In the caption, she wrote, "22 years and still going strong."

Released on December 14 in 2001, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham underscores the insurmountable importance of familial bonds. Helmed by Karan Johar and featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in important roles, the film has won many recognitions.
