After years of keeping everyone guessing, Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin shattered many a female heart across the world last month when he admitted to swinging the other way. “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am,” was what the Livin La Vida Loca singer wrote on his website. The one woman who wasn’t shocked? Apni Sushmita Sen, the alleged inspiration for Martin’s chartbuster Maria. “I knew he was gay. More power to him. It is a fantastic feeling to be able to love who you want to and that’s a choice no one can make for you.” Wasim Akram can breathe easy.

After years of being in a gay relationship with education activist Christine Marinoni, actress Cynthia Nixon, most famous for her portrayal of Miranda Hobbes in Sex and the City, recently announced her decision to walk down the aisle with her partner of four years. “I’m just a woman in love with another woman,” was what Nixon announced at her engagement a few months ago.
