It is very good for people like us,” said frequent-flier Prosenjit. “There are so many things available under one roof here, like the lounge, spa cafe and the restaurants. My way of unwinding is either by listening to music or reading books and that’s why I look for peaceful places like this,” added Rituparna.

Spread over 35,000sq ft on the fifth and sixth floors of Axis Mall in Rajarhat, Agora threw open its doors on Tuesday with Tolly stars Prosenjit and Rituparna Sengupta as chief guests.

The club started by Camellia Group includes a lounge bar, spa cafe, banquet hall, gym and indoor tennis court, and two F&B outlets — the 50-seater Oriental dine den Yin Yang, and Calcutta Retro, an 80-cover restaurant serving Indian and Continental fare. While only members are entitled to the club facilities, the two restaurants are open to walk-in visitors.

The lounge bar Bluezz lives up to its name. It has two sections — Loud, churning out foot-tapping numbers, and Soft, playing soothing tunes.

“Our hospitality sector was being neglected for some time, so we came up with Agora, which in Greek means ‘the meeting place’,” said N.R. Datta, chairman, Camellia Group. Membership starts upwards of Rs 100,000.
