My space
A three-bedroom third-floor apartment in Kalikapur, off EM Bypass, is where our Bomkesh Bakshi loves to come back to after a hard day’s work. Abir Chatterjee takes t2 on a tour of his favourite nooks and crannies.
The open terrace is my ‘cosy corner’...
I love roaming around on the terrace, especially on a winter afternoon when I can also enjoy the sun. Now such leisurely afternoons have become rare but I never miss a chance to steal time to be with myself on the terrace. It’s sheer bliss, something money can never buy. From the top of our four-storeyed building, I can see the skyline and it brings back lovely memories of my childhood when we used to live in Salt Lake.
One thing you didn’t know about Abir:
That he’s big on stocks and taxes! Off the sets, Abir is your regular corporate guy with a full-time job. “Few people know that I am into client port folio management. I work in IndiaBulls and I am lucky to have a boss with a big heart. Despite taking so many days off for my acting career, he hasn’t thrown me out yet! I have a lot of clients but no one treats me like a star, though we do talk about films and I ask all my clients to watch my movies!” said the associate vice-president of IndiaBulls (Salt Lake branch).
Balancing a corporate job with a demanding career like acting does leave him out of breath at times, but Abir enjoys both worlds. “Sometimes, I leave at 8 in the morning, go to office, leave by lunch time and head straight to a shoot. The next morning, I am up by 7.”

The guest room is where I can be me...
Because I can throw my clothes around without a care and nobody bothers me! Jokes apart, I love this room because it has a bookshelf that my father (actor Falguni Chatterjee) got made for me. I keep all my books here (and some t2 articles too!). These are my prized possessions.

Snuggling up with a good book is the best way to relax...
I love reading. I have read all the Feluda stories, and also the works of Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Samaresh Basu, Sharadindu Bandopadhyay and Buddhadeb Guha. I like to lounge on my easy chair in the living room and snuggle up with a book. I also love watching TV... and sleeping!

What Abir rustled up when Team t2 dropped by: A bowl of warm salted popcorn! “I can only make popcorn and I make it pretty well. In the microwave oven, of course! I think I can also cook Maggi but I am not sure, so I am not going to take any chances this time,” chuckled the charming host, before striking a chef’s pose. |
