Also starring Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Rajat Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla in key roles, Drishyam 2 is a sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Drishyam. The story follows the events in the life of a cable operator Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay) and his family seven years after the murder of Sameer Deshmukh, son of Goa’s IG Meera Deshmukh (Tabu).

While Drishyam 2 continued to dominate the box office this week, Revathy’s third directorial venture Salaam Venky, starring Kajol, opened to lukewarm response from the audience. The film, which revolves around a young boy suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, failed to cross Rs 1-crore mark in earnings on its opening day. Salaam Venky managed to collect Rs 0.60 crore nett in the domestic market, according to Box Office India.

On the other hand, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starrer Bhediya witnessed further drop in collections on its third Friday in theatres.
