Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a reason to feel good for his initiative to get June 21 declared as International Day of Yoga.
The world-renowned Bihar School of Yoga in Munger, around 225km east of Patna, has extended a tacit appreciation for the move and is also organising special events to mark the day.
This would be a big solace for Modi given the fact that the ruling JDU in Bihar has been critical of the BJP on the issue, accusing it of using yoga for political gains.
The main event by the yoga school, which was established in 1964 by late Swami Satyanand, would be organised in Munger town where trained personnel from the school would guide people about the different asanas of yoga.
"The special camps would be organised at more than 50 places in Munger in the morning and in the evening of June 21 and participation would be purely voluntary," a highly placed source in the school said on Wednesday. He added that similar programmes would be organised on the premises of the institution as well.
The yoga school functionary appreciated the efforts of Modi and said that though the Centre had not sent any official word to the institution about the event, it was the duty of every Indian to join hands on this front because the effort was good for the society.
The yoga school follows a very strict regimen for those who come to learn the art for the overall wellness in general and getting relief from specific physical problems as well.
On an average 200 to 300 trainees camp in the school at a given time and many of them also come from abroad. Sources at the institution revealed that several celebrities from foreign countries, too, come to learn the art but their identities are kept hidden, as it was not the culture of the institution to run after publicity.
The relation of one such celebrity with the institution had come to the fore in 2012. It was David Robert Stone from Britain who, after attended the yoga school for improving his mental and physical condition had gone on to win gold medal in the mixed T 1-2 Road Race in the Paralympics held in 2012 at Brands Hatch, Kent.
Suffering from cerebral palsy this 31-year-old man from Yorkshire, after winning the gold medal, had said that how his stay at the Bihar School of Yoga, Munger helped him win the medal.
This positive change was also mentioned by Stone as in one of the publications of the ashram - Past, Present and Future - in which he had written: "In the past I had tried to control my anger and that usually led to great explosion. Through my yoga I learnt to be more aware of this emotion and to be more accepting to it. Yoga gave me firmer base in outside world."
