Patna: The Bakhtiyarpur police have arrested a woman who allegedly got her son murdered as she was upset with his behaviour. The arrested woman Renu Devi, a widow, plotted her son Mintu Ram's murder along with some local criminals of the area.
The police have arrested Renu and two local criminals Dhramveer Kumar and Shravan Kumar. According to Bakhtiyarpur police sources, Renu Devi was upset with his Mintu's behaviour as he was involved in eve-teasing, theft and other criminal activities.
On April 7, the Bakhtiyarpur police recovered the body of a 26-year-old youth near hotel Akash in Bakhtiyarpur. The body was identified as Mintu Ram, son of late Dinesh Ram and a resident of Dhuskipur under Khusrupur police station area.
Mintu's widow Anju Devi had lodged a case at Bakhtiyarpur police station under Section 302/201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). As the body was recovered from a densely populated area of Bakhtiyarpur town, Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) had constituted a team comprising police officials of Barh, Bakhtiyarpur and police officials from SSP (special cell).
Diwan Ekram Khan, the station house officer of Bakhtiyarpur police station, said: "The team based on its intelligence inputs and through scientific investigation came to know that some family members were involved in the murder."
Khan added: "The team probing the case had detained the deceased's mother Renu for interrogation. During interrogation, the woman broke down before police confessing that she had given Rs 40,000 to two local criminals for murdering her son."
According to police, Renu said she was upset with her son's behaviour as apart from eve-teasing and being involved in a series of thefts in the area, he used to beat her and other family members when she objected to his unruly behaviour.
On the day of the incident, Renu made a phone call to Mintu asking him to come down near an isolated area at Khuruspur where two criminals were already present. The two criminals shot him killing him on the spot. Later, Renu, Dhramveer and Shravan threw the body behind hotel Akash.
Police sources said Renu had two sons while Mintu was unemployed and used to be involved in criminal activities.
Her younger son worked as a labourer in Delhi. Mintu is survived by his wife Anju and three-year-old son.
Brinda Singh, a clinical psychologist said: "The case reveals that the woman is insensitive having a criminal mindset and upset with her son's behaviour. A mother plotting her son's murder is a rare case as it reveals a disturbed family background."
