Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna celebrated five years of its establishment in a low-key function on Monday amid paying homage to its professor emeritus who passed away on Sunday afternoon.

At the foundation day function, institute director V. Mukunda Das said: “Within five years of its inception, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)-approved CIMP has scaled glorious heights and created new benchmark in academics. The institution has been ranked among the top 20 business schools in India.”

To mark the fifth foundation day, the CIMP fraternity observed silence for two minutes on Monday in remembrance of professor emeritus Vyuptakesh Sharan. Cultural performances were also not staged.

Five-year-old Piyush Kumar, a beneficiary of CIMP’s social initiative “A Beautiful Mind”, was the chief guest. The project was started around three years ago for the development of society through educating slum children around Patna.

Das said: “The focus of CIMP is on the poor in Bihar and we gave many plans for their uplift.”

Former students of three batches of CIMP also represented their class at the foundation day celebrations.
