Patna, Aug. 19: They are getting romantic text messages and updates on suitable matches on their cellphones. The mobile service providers do not charge them. But they are cut-up with the SMSes.
Make no mistake. They are not aam admi like you and I. They are men in uniform — two senior officers known for their seriousness at work. One of them is an IPS officer, the other is in the rank of DSP. Strangely, they are being bombarded with weird text messages.
The IPS officer, an eligible bachelor, is getting romantic messages on his cellphone. The DSP, married happily, is bugged with texts on suitable matches.
The IPS officer said: “It is a turning out to be a problem indeed. Quite a few SMSes, mostly romantic ones, have started to pour in of late. We, as police officers, have got a lot of work to do. I have been ignoring the text messages. But they bug me at times.”
Flooded with messages about suitable matches, the DSP rank officer said: “I have been getting matrimonial messages for some time now. ‘Pareshan ho gaya hoon (tired of those messages)’. The SMSes come every now and then and in large numbers.
“Annoying SMSes are always a problem, whether it is common people or the police,” he said during an informal talk with The Telegraph.
The official mobile numbers of all the police officers on the field are in public domain so that people can contact them. Their numbers are printed in almost all the official diaries. They are also on display outside their offices and on billboards at different roundabouts in the state capital.
“I think someone might have registered my number by mistake or knowingly to a marriage bureau. I get messages from the bureau all the time. Most of the times I tend to laugh over them because I am married. But at times the text messages bug me a lot,” the DSP pointed out.
The IPS officer said: “Strange messages come in. Police officers have to work hard and be serious about their job. Our character should also be clean. As policemen, we can sort out these matters easily.
“But more important for us is crime control. I remain busy most of the time in it. But if the matter (flow of messages) goes out of hand, I will have to do something to stop the message inflow. I turn crazy sometimes when I receive weird romantic messages.” the senior officer said.
Unwanted messages are bugging both the officers. If patience runs out, they would reply for sure.
Are you ready for the music, pranksters?
