Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad and son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav launched a joint attack on chief minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy over the alleged scams that have rocked the state.
Lalu attacked Nitish over the Srijan and toilet scams: "Only scams are taking place in Bihar but chief minister Nitish Kumar does not have the courage to tweet on these scams. Crime has also increased in the state ever since he joined the BJP."
He also slammed deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi for claiming that that a chargesheet would soon be filed against Lalu's younger son Tejashwi. Lalu on Saturday reiterated that Sushil was framing false charges against his children, while Tejashwi said Bihar had become a state where scams are being manufactured.
"In the last four months, Bihar has turned into a state of manufacturing scams. There are established scams in Bihar like Srijan and toilet but no action is being taken and no investigation is ordered. It seems that ghosts are doing the scams," Tejashwi said.
He added that the cases lodged against him by the Enforcement Directorate, income tax and Central Bureau of Investigation were based on assumptions. "Despite no involvement of mine, the income-tax, CBI and ED have lodged cases against me and I have been fully cooperating in the investigation... But in Bihar there are established scams and crime but no one is bothered to even talk about them," said the former deputy chief minister.
He added that false cases were registered against him and now the investigating agencies were searching for evidence to file the chargesheet. "It's been 150 days when the FIR were filed against me, they (the agencies) searched my house and did everything possible but couldn't find anything. They interrogated me several times. When I have not done anything wrong, how will they get any evidence against me? Sushil Modi said soon chargesheet will be filed against me - it means he keeps the agencies in his pocket."
Poll snipe at BJP
Reacting to the BJP's sweep of the civic polls in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, Lalu said voters in urban areas participated in civic polls and the scenario in villages was different. Lalu claimed that the village electorate does not like the BJP.
"The BJP can only win in urban areas but not in rural areas," Lalu said on Saturday before going to Gaya for an orphanage function. "The civic poll (in UP) is the result of the same voting pattern. The BJP does not need to be happy over the win, as they will face humiliating defeat in the real polls."
