Patna, July 10: National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is introducing a year-long course on fashion and clothing technology under its continuing education (CE) programme.

The course, which will start from the fourth week of August, would focus on the garment industry and the professional area of apparel design construction and technology. It will prepare 30 candidates across the state to become sampling coordinators, retailers and production executives.

"The programme was conceived keeping in mind the professional gaps in the industry. It targets self-motivated individuals who understand the need to develop the necessary expertise to become successful ," said Sanjay Srivastava, the director of NIFT-Patna.

The admission forms are available online at the official website of the institute - www.nift.ac.in and offline on the Patna campus at Mithapur, from the third week of July. Students would be selected on the basis of an interview, which is scheduled in the fourth week of July. Candidates who have passed their Class XII board examinations would be eligible for the interview.

No bar on age in the selection procedure, every aspirant now has an opportunity.

" I always wanted to get into the fashion and clothing sector and set up my own business. This course will help me pursue my dreams," said Monika Roy, a resident of Boring road, who is a housewife.

The course will have added features, which include the use of all NIFT facilities and assistance in placement and setting up of one's own business.
