Patna divisional commissioner Anand Kishor convened a meeting on smart city on Wednesday where consultant agency Support Programme for Urban Reforms (SPUR) made a presentation.
Discussions took place on the seven modules of area-based development, which includes infrastructure, decongestion, mobility, public place making, inclusive endeavour, local to global and smart solutions.
Patna district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Abhishek Singh, managing director of Bihar State Water Board Kapil Ashok Shirshat and traffic superintendent of police P.K. Das also attended the meet.
"The total cost of the area-based development is Rs 2,163 crore in which redevelopment of railway station area, smart road, and development of heritage parks are there in the proposal. For the redevelopment of the railway station area we have prepared the framework of a memorandum of understanding between railway, national building construction corporation (NBCC) and Patna Municipal Corporation," Kishor said.
Representatives of different private and government banks, NGOs, representatives of railway, tourism department, Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (BUIDCo) and Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam (BRPNN) were also there in the meeting.
Kishor said a decision had been taken to invite suggestions to redevelop the Bankipore Bus Terminal in the commercial hub on a public-private partnership mode.
The decision was also taken to include a riverfront development project, installation of solar panels and a smart pole on a public-private partnership mode.
Kishor said Rs 279 crore has been approved for creating integrated control and command centre for the smart waste management project pegged at Rs 2,442 crore.
"Under the area based development project, I have given instructed the Patna Municipal Corporation to make the proposals of bin-less technology for the solid waste management in which the dustbin would be kept underground after digging a hole and garbage would be taken out with the help of special machines," Kishor said.
He also proposed to develop a single-window system which residents could use for different purposes like payment of electricity bill, telephone bill, land tax and municipal tax.
On February 10, the divisional commissioner has invited people to upload their suggestion on the website www.mygov.in.
"I would request the residents of Patna to give their suggestions to the Patna Municipal Corporation for the smart city and good suggestions would be taken into consideration and incorporated in the final proposal which will be sent to the Centre in March 2017," Kishor said, adding that resident can play an effective role in formulating the smart city proposal.
