Patna: If Ek Tha Tiger was a cub, Tiger Zinda Hai is a full-fledged beast.
Ek Tha Tiger's sequel Tiger Zinda Hai starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif has broken all Day-I records of the superstar's own movies in terms of gross earning. On Friday the film collected Rs 28,986,53 in Patna.
Ek Tha Tiger, which had released in 2012, had collected Rs 12,37,500 and five years after, it has smashed all records except Prabhas-starrer Bahubali: The Conclusion, which had earned Rs 31 lakh on the first day.
Slotted for 34 shows in Patna, Tiger Zinda Hain, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, pulled in large crowd both in single and multiplexes. Cinepolis is running 15 shows, whereas Regent Fun Cinema, Mona and Elphinstone are running five shows each. Sushil Plaza has four shows.
College-goers and young couples couldn't wait for the opening and as soon as the theatres opened, they flocked in to take their seats to watch their favourite RAW agent Tiger and Pakistani agent Zoya.
Theatre managements believe after a long gap, a film will make the box office look up.
"Many films have released in the past few months but none could match up to Salman's Tiger. People like Katrina and Salman. They have the calibre to pull crowds. It is a win-win situation for audience and us," said Suman Kumar Sinha, the chairman-cum-managing director of Regent Theatre Pvt Ltd.
All shows till Sunday is running houseful. Even morning shows are chock-full. The ticket rates are also high compared to other movies. The maximum price is Rs 350 and the minimum is Rs 130. Normally the price ranges between Rs 100 and Rs 280.
Audiences, too, were lively after their exit from the 2-hour-41-minute-show.
"The Salman-Katrina action and romance rock. This film is better than the last," said Kankerbagh resident Vivek Gupta, after watching Tiger Zinda Hain at Regent.
We just wish the numbers at the box office climb up in the festive week.
