Quip versus retort in Tejas-Nitish battle

Patna: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Friday launched a sarcastic attack on chief minister Nitish Kumar, who, at an event to celebrate two years of prohibition on Thursday, had alleged that some people were posting frivolous tweets all day and misleading the Mahadalits to scuttle the liquor ban.

Who Nitish was pointing to, however, was quite easy to fathom.

Tejashwi paid back in kind on Friday, declaring that he was feeling pity for Nitish seeing his restlessness and frustration at a public event.

"I express my sympathy towards Nitish ji after I saw him showing his anger, irritation, restlessness, and bitterness at a public event. I am worried about him. What a situation has my uncle fallen into in just eight months of power," Tejashwi tweeted in Hindi on Friday.

Addressing a public event at Adhiveshan Bhavan on Thursday, without naming Tejashwi, the chief minister had said "some people have become leaders because of my mistakes and they keep tweeting all day without knowing anything and speak trash".

Nitish went on to challenge the Opposition leaders to take him on if they were angry, but not to speak illogical things that could harm the society.

Tejashwi claimed that after the results of the bypolls, the chief minister has turned softer on prohibition and hardly speaks on the issue.

"Thursday was the second anniversary of prohibition so he had to speak (on prohibition). Otherwise if you watch him minutely, he speaks less these days on the liquor ban at public events after losing the bypoll with a huge margin," Tejashwi said.

He also posted a caricature on Twitter that shows Nitish resting on a lotus bed and deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi fanning him.

"Kursi Kumar resting on Kamal Vihar after wearing saffron chola. Wearing socialist clothes, Nitish is trying to disturb the society. Now he should wear saffron clothes because his conscience has turned Sanghi," Tejashwi tweeted.

JDU spokesperson and MLC Sanjay Singh hit back at Tejashwi over his comment on Nitish. "We also have sympathy towards your frustration, restlessness and irritation," Sanjay said. "We were really bothered about you eight months back and that's why you were asked to explain publicly but unfortunately your father put you in this circumstances."
