Patna, Feb. 3: Bihar police today set another example of prompt policing by submitting a chargesheet against nine ga-ngsters, allegedly associated with the notorious Bhola Sin-gh gang, within 48 hours of th-eir arrest from Padarak police station area.

The arrested men are being suspected to be close associates of an influential MLA of the ruling party.

This is perhaps the first time when a chargesheet in a case of Arms Act has been su-bmitted by the police within 48 hours of the arrest.

Assistant superintendent of police (ASP), Barh, Saurabh Kumar Sah said the chargesheet against all the nine accused was filed in the sub-divisional court within 48 hours of their arrest. The details of firearms seized from their possession have also been submitted to the court.

The ASP said the investigating officer of the case, G.D. Tiwary, has been asked to submit a petition in the court requesting to initiate trial of the accused on a priority basis. “Instructions have also been issued to the investigating officer to ensure production of witnesses in the court once the permission for speedy trial is granted,” Sah said.

He said trial against the accused is likely to start next week. “We are trying to get all the accused prosecuted at the earliest. The legal formalities have already been completed on the instruction of the state police headquarters,” he said, adding that raids are on to apprehend the ringleader, who managed to escape with one AK-47 assault rifle.

The police had seized one 9mm pistol, one regular rifle, one country-made pistol, one magazine of AK-47, 20 live cartridges ofAK-47 besides one SUV without registration number and 10 mobiles from the possession of the arrested men identified as Vicky Ku-mar, Sumit Kumar Ranjan, Rajesh Kumar, Paplu, Gariban Ram, Manas Kumar, Azad Kumar, Amit Sharma and Pappu Kumar.
