Munger: Police rescued a 13-year-old schoolboy on Monday within three hours of being kidnapped by six youths from near Saraswati Bidya Mandir school on Munger-Jamalpur main road here.

By the time the youths took the boy to a mango orchard in a deserted place, the teenager had managed to alert his uncle from his mobile. "We tracked the location of the boy through mobile tower and rushed to mango orchard of JRS College and rescued the boy within three hours of the kidnapping," superintendent of police Gaurav Mangla told reporters in Munger, around 225km east of Patna, on Tuesday.

"The arrested men are Abhisek Kumar, 22, Sudhakar Kumar Yadav, 23, Pankaj Kumar Yadav, 24, Sarwan Kumar, 18, Sudhir Paswan, 19, and Bihari Mandal, 23, all hailing from Navtolia Bindwara mohalla under Kasim Bazar police station," the SP added.

"An expensive mobile belonging to Abhisek Kumar was stolen recently. Abhisek suspected the schoolboy, so he abducted him with five associates to get money from the family. But police foiled their plot. The six were sent to Munger jail," said the SP. When this correspondent asked the SP about why Abhisek suspected the boy stole his mobile, the officer replied that the matter was being probed.
