Doctors, for a change, set the pulse racing instead of checking the pulse at a rare event organised at Patna Medical College on Monday.
They walked the ramp like models in Garima, a show organised by the fashion society of the college, as part of its ongoing foundation day celebrations.
Over a dozen doctors, including reputable physicians such as Pragya Mishra, Geeta Sinha, Ranjana Kumari, Seema Rani, Amar Kumar Singh, Mamta Singh, hogged the limelight on the ramp.
Monday's "models", who are mostly seen wearing white aprons in the hospital, were in attires that are in vogue but some chose to go traditional too.
Gynaecologist Ranjana Kumari bought a western outfit to take part in the ramp walk.
"One should be responsible about everything one does. I wanted to look perfect for the show. So, I bought a dress," said Ranjana, who wore a peach gown.
She said such shows should be organised regularly, as they are stress-busters.
"Doctors have monotonous lifestyle. Such activities bring in some fun in life. I enjoyed taking part in the show. For the last two days I was trying to walk like a professional model," Ranjana laughed.
Gynaecologist Pragya Mishra, who also walked the ramp, however, said she wasn't prepared for the walk.
"The only preparation from my side was choosing an outfit. I chose a peach-and-white western wear for the occasion because I thought I should not wear a casual. It won't be justice to such an event. I had got the dress designed for an Australian wedding last year and thought it would go well with the fashion show," said Mishra.
"I walked the ramp for the first time in my life. I never got the chance even during school and college days. Today's experience was special. I gathered compliments from my colleagues and MBBS students that I walked like a professional on the ramp," said Mishra, adding she had surgeries planned for the evening after the ramp show, including one laparoscopic ovarian drilling, a surgery that can help trigger ovulation process in women.
Additional director-general of police (law and order) Alok Raj was the chief guest at the event.
