The Magadh University academic council on Monday decidsed to launch postgraduate diploma course in women’s studies.
The council meeting presided over by vice-chancellor Mohammed Ishtiyaque approved the PG diploma course in women’s studies in Arvind Mahila College, JD Women’s College, BD College, Patna and Gaya College.
The council also decided to start conventional postgraduate courses in constituent colleges and approved the syllabus of the six-month pre PhD preparatory course.
The council gave its nod to launching of conventional PG courses after an inspection to assess infrastructure is carried out. After inspection, a proposal would be sent to the HRD department to obtain a no-objection certificate.
It also approved the syllabus of six-month pre PhD preparatory course. It is mandatory for all PhD aspirants to complete the preparatory course. Even those who have got their registration done under any guide after August 2009 and completed the research would have to take admission in the preparatory course for their degrees to be considered valid. University dean (students’ welfare) Sitaram Singh said the last date for submission of forms for admission to the pre PhD preparatory course was August 9.
It was decided to follow reservation policy of the state government in admission.
