Bihar entrepreneurs will soon have their names listed on the business pages in US.
The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) opened its Patna chapter last week, after which a list of 25 entrepreneurs from Bihar was sent to be included in their directory, published every two years.
The organisation’s directory is important as it goes to all government offices in India and the US, including the White House, Irfan Alam, Bihar-based entrepreneur and the organisation’s president, told The Telegraph today.
“The organisation opened its doors to Bihar and entrepreneurs here can expect good ties with the business world in the US. A list of 26 state-based entrepreneurs has been sent to the IACC office to be included in their directory,” Alam, who returned to Patna recently after completely studies at Harvard, said.
Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi attended the inauguration of IACC’s Patna chapter on November 6. Mathew Hilgendorf, principal commercial officer at the US consulate general’s office in Calcutta, present on the occasion, had stressed on strong business ties between US-based industrialists and the state. He also said companies based in America had a good reason to invest here with India talking about creation of smart cities.
In the 2014-15 budget, Union finance minister Arun Jaitley allocated Rs 7,060 crore for creation of 100 smart cities across the country. Five of these cities would come up in Bihar and the state has urged the Centre to include 20 towns in Modi’s flagship scheme.
The names of 26 entrepreneurs have been sent to the IACC office in Calcutta from where they would be forwarded to the head office in Mumbai and then to US. Abhishek Singh, a Patna-based entrepreneur whose name is on the list, said: “I have a company called ‘E-Finance’ and help industrialists develop detail project reports and business concepts. With my details in the directory, firms and businessmen in US and India will know about my work,” Singh said.
IACC is also planning to take a delegation from the state to US in January, Alam said. “We have talked to the chief minister and industries minister and they have agreed to lead the delegation. The dates will be finalised soon.” Alam said.
