The Magadh University syndicate, which met at its Bodhgaya headquarters on Sunday, discussed two separate topics — posting of 15 principals and appointments on compassionate ground.
The syndicate, however, did not discuss the issue of providing land on the university campus for setting up an Indian Institute of Management.
University meeting section in-charge-cum-public relations officer Shamsul Islam said the syndicate decided to send a letter to the governor-cum-chancellor of universities with a request to send a clear directive regarding posting of 15 principals selected earlier by a committee of the university.
The 12 principals, who were posted in different constituent colleges of the university, were removed from the post following a direction by Raj Bhavan.
Three candidates selected for the post of principal were kept in waiting.
The chancellor’s office had stayed posting of principals in view of the BB Lal committee report that had pointed out certain irregularities in the appointment process. The selection of principals was also challenged in Patna High Court by a member of the selection committee, Shiv Jatan Thakur. Raj Bhavan, however, in a recent order sent to the university, reverted its earlier order regarding stay on the postings.
Discussing another agenda, the syndicate approved the proposal for at least 100 appointments on compassionate ground.
The appointments will be made according to the vacancy available at university headquarters and in the constituent colleges functioning under the university, the syndicate decided.
Vice-chancellor Mohammad Ishtiyaque presided over the meeting also attended by pro-vice-chancellor Kriteshwar Prasad, registrar D.K. Yadav and others.
