Patna, Sept. 12: Munni Khatun, a middle-aged woman, along with her five visually challenged children today approached chief minister Nitish Kumar at his weekly janata darbar to avail BPL card to carry on her living. Her husband, too, is visually challenged.
She came all the way with her children from Narkatiaganj in West Champaran district to get help from the state government.
“I don’t have any financial support and apart from my five children, my husband too is visually challenged and this is the reason why he did not get any job. I am very poor and my in-laws don’t take care of my family. I want BPL cards so that I can utilise the government’s schemes and programmes which is given to the people living under below poverty line,” Khatun said.
She added: “How would I feed my children? They are unable to do anything without my help because they are very small. If I am given a BPL card then I can be self-dependent and can take care of my family members.”
Nitish directed her to meet the minister concerned and said: “I will see what I can do in your case.”
She then went to the table of panchayati raj, welfare of backward and extremely backward classes minister Hari Prasad Sah.
The minister gave her problem a patient hearing and said: “I will instruct my officials to check your application on priority basis. Since the chief minister has directed, I will ensure that you get the BPL card as soon as possible.”
Before leaving the darbar, Khatun said: “Allah is there with me and if I am honest He will surely help me to come out of this misery.”
