Patna, Dec. 26: The prelude to the much-awaited annual meet of St Michael's Alumni Association was set today with a gathering of the 1990 and 1992 batches at a city hotel.
Around 50 former students of St Michael's High School came from different parts of the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and even abroad, to reminisce about the days spent at their alma mater.
"Every moment spent at school occupies a special place in every ex-Michaelite's heart. We, the students of St Michael's, believe that whatever we are today is because of this school," said Vishal Gupta from the 1990 batch, who is presently the managing director at Ashiana Housing Limited, a firm in Delhi.
Excitement flooded the scene as batch mates saw each other after many years. "We had a nice time meeting friends after a long time. We shared memories - the mischief we did such as bunking classes and the crushes we had on girls of Notre Dame Academy," said Gitesh Lohia, also from the 1990 batch, who is a businessman at present.
The formal annual alumni meet will be held on the school premises in Digha on Sunday. The daylong meet will atart with a cricket match between the students of the 1990 batch and the rest of the alumni association. A brunch will follow.
The annual general meeting of the alumni association will take place on Sunday evening where the new office bearers for the 2016-17 session will be selected. After this, the alumni will take to the dance floor with friends and families. Father P.T. Augustine, the former principal at St Michael's (1984 to 1992) will be the chief guest.
Students from the 1960 batch to the recently passed out batches will take part in the programme, which will focus on the silver jubilee celebrations of the 1990 batch.
"The alumni meet gives us an opportunity to revive, relish and relive the glorious years spent in the most prestigious institution of the cit. We also relate and reconnect with batchmates, friends and faculty members. We only get a couple of such days in a year to spend some time with our former teachers, friends, seniors and juniors," said Shailendra Luthra, the director at Brite Neon Signs Private Limited of New Delhi.
