Patna, March 27: A Maoist, who had received gunshot injury during an encounter with police at Darmaha village under Kesaria police station in East Champaran on March 13, and a medical practitioner were arrested from a private nursing home at Hajipur in Vaishali on Sunday.
The Maoist identified as Lal Babu was later referred to the Sadar hospital at Hajipur for treatment. The police also detained medical practitioner Dr Ranjeet Kumar for interrogation. The arrested Maoist was secretly undergoing treatment at the private nursing home, the police said.
Vaishali superintendent of police Sidharth Kumar said that an SUV, which was used for ferrying the injured Maoist to Hajipur from Champaran, has also been seized. “It is being ascertained how the Maoist reached Hajipur and was admitted to the private nursing home for treatment,” he said.
Sources said one Deepak Kumar, a resident of Thatan village under Sadar police station of the district, used to work as a link between the Maoists and the private nursing home for providing medical facilities to the members of the banned outfit.
The self-proclaimed zonal commander of north Bihar Musafir Sahni, who also hails from the same area of Vaishali, was earlier arrested by the East Champaran police from Bengal. He is, at present, lodged in the Motihari jail, sources in the state police headquarters said.
