Patna, June 25: Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan today demanded a probe into the land deals of Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (Biada), in its latest attack on the state government for the Forbesganj firing incident.

The land, which Paswan demanded a probe into, has been leased out by the state government at throw away prices to various industries.

“The government should inquire all the land deals of Biada. It needs to be found out as to how many land acquisitions it had carried out till date and how many plots have been leased out for setting up the industries,” Paswan said, while addressing his party supporters on the co-operative federation’s premises to pay tribute to the former Prime Minister V.P. Singh on his birth anniversary.

“Earlier, I had resolved not to speak against the state government for six months. Now that the period is over, we will move to different parts of the state in the next six months to tell the people about the misdeeds and failures of the Nitish government,” Paswan said.

He said: “In Forbesganj, Biada, which was set up with a goal to provide plots to small industries, acquired the land in 1984. What went so wrong that the machinery had to resort to firing after 26 years of acquisition? The state government had leased out around 105 acres to BJP MLC Ashok Agrawal at a throw away price. Neither the tender was advertised nor was any entrepreneur invited.”

Coming down heavily on the Nitish-led NDA government for failing to take action against the erring civil and police officers involved in the Forbesganj police firing, the LJP chief questioned the government for not recommending for a CBI probe into the matter. He also demanded a compensation of Rs 20 lakh as compensation to the deceased’s families and a job and Rs 5 lakh for injured.

The LJP leader said even national minorities commission’s chairman Wajahat Habibullah advocated for a CBI probe.

Paswan added that the LJP would organise a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to protest against the firing incident.
