Leadership festival

Muzaffarpur boy Ranjan Kumar (second from right) receives the Bihar Leadership Award at the Bihar Leadership Festival organised by the International Institutional Organisation at Tarumitra Ashram on Saturday.The voluntary organisation felicitated 80 people from across the country for doing some type of social work for communities. Among those felicitated were Abhishek Rodricks, Jhunawala Das and Sunny Kumar Bharti.Abhishek happens to be a student of international law at the Calcutta-based Amity University. He has worked for the welfare of refugees on the India-Bangladesh border. He monitors and creates awareness for controlling the blue whale game in the city.

Recently, he has been nominated for the Commonwealth Youth Award 2017. Abhishek will get the award from Prince Charles in Malaysia on November 3. Jhunawala Das has been working for women's empowerment in Odisha. She has formed self-help groups and also given free coaching in folk dance to school dropouts. Sunny Kumar Bharti owns a garment shop in Sitamarhi. He spends a fourth of his earnings on educating poor kids," said Ashutosh Kumar Kashyap, an organiser. Pranav Kumar, another organiser, said people from all walks of life, including author Shantanu Gupta, former IAS officer Vijoy Prakash and Arun Kumar, addressed the gathering.
