The RJD's changed fortunes, coupled with increase in the number of office-bearers, has necessitated a makeover of the party office at 2 Beer Chand Patel Marg.
The office will be renovated to hold bigger programmes, as the current office does not have enough space to accommodate office-bearers. Party chief Lalu Prasad recently took the decision after his party emerged as the single largest in the Grand Alliance, winning 80 of 101 seats.
"Laluji has given the go-ahead for a complete makeover of the office," a senior RJD leader told The Telegraph.
"The first priority is to construct a 1,500-seat meeting hall on the premises. For yesterday's (Saturday) function, we placed 700 chairs but more than 1,000 workers and leaders were present. Now, our number (of MLAs) has increased from 22 to 80. So obviously we need a bigger place to hold big programmes. The construction work and makeover will start soon."
