Patna, Sept. 26: Students and teachers of colleges under Patna University are warming up for a long vacation starting October 1.
Patna University will celebrate its foundation day on October 1 and will remain closed till October 9 for Durga Puja.
However, from October 10 to 23, the colleges will remain open and again on October 24, it will remain closed till November 3 for Diwali and Chhath. However, since the colleges will remain open for just 13 days in October, the students and teachers fear whether the syllabus would be completed on time.
Since the university administration is planning to introduce semester system from this academic season, it will be a tough challenge for the colleges to complete the syllabus on time.
The varsity teachers and employees get 62 holidays, including summer, winter vacations and festivals.
In another development, the university teachers heaved a sigh of relief as the state human resource development (HRD) department released teachers’ salaries for September.
The HRD department has released Rs 7 crore for payment of salaries to teachers and non-teaching employees of Patna University for September.
Similarly, Rs 21 crore has been released for payment of salaries to teachers and non-teaching employees of Magadh University.
