Patna, April 1: In an attempt to get her daughter’s boyfriend in trouble, a mother landed herself in problem.

Jagdhishpur resident Kanchan Devi, angry with her daughter Putul Kumari, confiscated her mobile and sent threat messages from it to MLA Dinesh Kumar Singh.

Kanchan was sure that the SIM card in the mobile belonged to her daughter’s boyfriend, Anil Kumar alias Vicky. They hoped that Vicky would get in trouble when the police started tracking the text threatening the legislators. But things did not turn out as planned and Kanchan was arrested today. Her husband and son, alleged accomplices in the case, are absconding.

Patna senior superintendent of police Alok Kumar said an FIR has been lodged.

“Investigations are being carried out. Vicky had taken two SIM cards from his friend Irshad Warsi, a dealer in mobile SIM cards. He, then, gave one to his girlfriend. When the girl’s family — who did not approve of the relationship — got to know that she was using a SIM given to her by Vicky, they hatched a plan to trap him. Hardly did they know that the SIM was registered in Warsi’s name,” said Alok.
