Patna, Nov. 29: Hazards analysis and critical control point was the buzzword today — the final day of the workshop on “Applications of Food Safety Act, 2006, in dairy industry”.

HACCP or hazards analysis and critical control point, is a food and safety standard, which specify all measures necessary to ensure the safety and wholesomeness of food at every stage from the receipt of raw materials till the sale of the product to the customer.

The event witnessed lectures on the roles and responsibilities of dairies and allied industries. The workshop was organised by Bihar Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (Bameti) in collaboration with the Directorate of Dairy Development and Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation (Comfed), government of Bihar, at Scada Business Centre.

On food safety, Pankaj Namdeo, senior consultant, Allied Boston Consultants India Private Limited, Delhi, said: “Three things — contamination, adulteration and devitalisation — have to be taken care of when it comes to food products. These prove to be harmful for human health.”
