Patna, May 18: Even police officers are not safe in cyber space in this age of hi-tech crime.

Former city superintendent of police (SP) Shivdeep Lande, who is now aide-de-camp (ADC) to the governor and the official spokesperson of Raj Bhavan, went to the office of Manu Maharaj, the senior superintendent of police (SSP), today and lodged a complaint that a fake Facebook account had been opened in his name the second time around.

Lande, erstwhile Patna city SP and then Araria SP, went to Kotwali police station and filed a written complaint in the issue. “This is happening to me the second time. I have lodged a complaint and have requested the police to take necessary action and nab the culprit. I don’t have any account on Facebook or Twitter or any other social networking website. Whatever is there in my name is fake,” Lande said.

On checking, The Telegraph found two accounts in the names of Shivdeep Waman Lande and Shivdeep Lande. The first has 3,236 friends and 666 pictures, mainly of police officers and of various issues, while the second has 58 friends and eight pictures, mainly of newspaper cuttings.

In August 2011, a fake Facebook account was created in Lande’s name. SSP Maharaj said investigations would be conducted. “The police have got a cyber crime cell. The case will be probed and dealt with as all other similar cases,” he said. Five communities on Facebook also carry pictures of Lande.
