Patna, Dec. 25: The centenary celebrations of the state will continue full steam into the new year. Road and fashion shows as well as other events will be organised at home and away.
At present, a fashion show is on in New Delhi. Bhagalpur silk and traditional handlooms are on display at the event that will continue till the end of January.
Come New Year, and the events will go on the road in other states as well. On January 7 and 8, Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation will organise a road show in Chennai.
The rich cultural heritage of Bihar will be exhibited on tableau. Roadside stalls will also be set up for residents of the south Indian metropolis. The prime attraction will be delicacies from Bihar.
Similar road shows would also be organised in Calcutta and Bangalore.
The state industries department has decided to leave no stone unturned to fulfil the dream of Bihar’s growth.
It will take part in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Jaipur from January 7 to 9. Officials of the department will promote the state as investor-friendly.
Sports, too, would find a place in the itinerary of events.
A national-level football tournament will be organised from January 14 to 29, in which major teams of the country will take part.
An international kabbadi tournament for women will be held from March 1 to 4. Teams from England, Japan, Thailand, Korea, Sri Lanka, Iran, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Pakistan and the US will take part in it.
Education department principal secretary Anjani Kumar Singh said: “All the functions have been designed in a way that there is some participation from all departments. The main theme of the Bihar Divas is to showcase the state’s rich heritage.”
The home department will also host the 60th All-India Police Sports at Mithilesh Stadium in the state capital between February 1 and 5.
