Patna, Aug. 28: Former state Congress spokesperson Uma Shankar Gupta died in a road accident today. He was 58.

Gupta was hit by a truck near Sipla. He was returning home after a morning walk at Patna zoo on scooter when the mishap occurred. He was rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Gupta is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. Senior Congress leaders expressed condolences to the grief-stricken family.

“Gupta hailed from Phulwarishariff and was an important leader,” said senior Congress leader Prem Chandra Mishra.
