Anand Kumar and Hrithik Roshan
The biopic on Super 30 founder Anand Kumar is a go with Hrithik Roshan.
'I inked the agreement for the film with producer Madhu Mantena on Sunday evening and I gave consent after Hrithik's name was finalised for the lead role for the film,' Anand told The Telegraph over phone from Mumbai on Monday.
The film, to be directed by Queen maker Vikas Bahl, is expected to be released in 2019 with Hrithik essaying the mathematician's character.
A source close to Anand said he had a couple of conditions for agreeing to the biopic - a well-known actor should play the lead and there should not be any twist in the real life story of Anand.
His life makes for a fascinating story too - from the struggle after his father's untimely demise that prevented him from pursuing higher studies in Cambridge University to his days as a door-to-door vendor selling papads, and the launch of Super 30 in 2002 to nurture meritorious students from weaker sections of the society for the IIT free of cost.
In the past 15 years, 396 students from Super 30 have made it to the IITs.
On his visit to Mumbai this time, Anand also called on Hrithik and was all praise for the actor. He said Hrithik was 'a dynamic actor who would do justice with my character in the movie'.
This was not the first meeting between the duo, as Anand and Hrithik have met a few times earlier too. One of them was when they shared some time in August during the shoot of a special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
The idea of the biopic on Anand had been doing the rounds for a year-and-a-half. During that time, director Bahl and writer Sanjeev Dutta had several rounds of meetings with Anand. They also visited Patna recently and went to Kuswan village near Dhanarua in Patna district and interacted with the rural students of a government school.
'They stayed in Patna for three to four days, and at this stage I can tell you that some of the film's shoot will be done at a village school in Bihar,' said one of Anand's aides who accompanied Bahl and Dutta.
Anand said: 'They (Bahl and Dutta) would discuss various details about my life's journey and also my method of teaching students among other things.'
Asked whether he will visit Mumbai for the shoot, and share tips with Hrithik, he said: 'Vikas (Bahl) has been collecting lot of facts about me for the past one-and-a-half-year and if needed, I am not averse to the idea of sharing something more during the shoot.'
