Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) director N.R. Biswas on Friday inaugurated the state's first Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants (Amrit) pharmacy. Amrit is a central government initiative to provide affordable drugs to people and will be run by HLL Lifecare Limited, a central government enterprise. "So far we have opened 27 Amrit and 41 general pharmacies in the country. Cancer drugs and cardiac implants among others will be available at a 10 to 60 per cent discount here.
