Collision kills five, injures 27

Patna: A speeding truck hit a private bus, killing at least five persons, including the bus driver, and injuring 27 others on NH-77 in Sitamarhi district on Thursday.

While five of the critically injured were referred to Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur, 20 other injured were being treated at Sitamarhi Sadar hospital.

Beds doubled

Patna: The number of emergency beds in Patna Medical College and Hospital will be increased from 100 to 200. The decision was taken to solve the shortage of beds at the facility. The process will start in August.

Assets heat

Patna: The economic offences unit on Thursday submitted chargesheet against director of Ara-based government industrial training institute Satyendra Kumar, who has been accused of amassing disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.91 crore.

Liquor seized

Sasaram: A police team led by station house officer of Dehri, Dharmendra Kumar, on Thursday seized over 36,000 pouches of country liquor made in Jharkhand and arrested four persons in this connection. Two sand-laden trucks, which were carrying the pouches of liquor, were also seized.
