Shuffle in IAS ranks

Patna: The state government on Tuesday transferred seven senior IAS officers, including principal secretaries of health, cabinet coordination, road construction, water resources and minor irrigation departments.

R.K. Mahajan has been made principal health secretary, while Brajesh Mehrotra would be his cabinet coordination counterpart. Sudhir Kumar would join road construction as the department's principal secretary. Arun Kumar has been made the principal secretary of water resources department, Dipak Kumar Singh in minor irrigation department and K.K. Pathak in the registration, excise and prohibition department. Rahul Kumar has been given additional charge as finance secretary. D.G. Gangwar has been shifted to the education department as the principal secretary, while agriculture commissioner Vijoy Prakash has been asked to hold additional charge of principal secretary, cabinet vigilance.

Muzaffarpur: Residents of Bariya blocked National Highway 28 for three hours to protest the death of a biker by a speeding bus on Tuesday.

MLA threat

Bhagalpur: Gopalpur's JDU MLA Niraj Kumar Mandal allegedly threatened a deputy superintendent of police-rank officer with dire consequences when the cop tried to rein in the politician's supporters who were breaking traffic rules during a snarl on Tuesday.

Charge sheet

Patna: The vigilance investigation bureau on Tuesday filed a charge sheet in the vigilance court against seven former officials of Chatapur circle office in Supaul, including revenue clerk Sujeet Kumar, in connection with the flood relief scam of 2008.

Patna: The district administration has banned plying of private boats on the Ganga in Patna sadar division from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday.

Patna: Criminals looted Rs 7.5 lakh from a beverage distributor in Samastipur on Tuesday. They barged into the Mal Godown Chowk office of Mithilesh Kumar and snatched from him a bag containing the money.

Patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Choudhary on Tuesday congratulated party chief Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi on the party's victory in the Ratlam Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh.

Cong meeting

Patna: A meeting of Congress office-bearers, including state vice-presidents, general secretaries and presidents of district congress committees, has been convened for November 29 at Sadaquat Ashram from 11am.
