Cuffs on Manjhi kin
Jehanabad, Sept. 23: Ram Ghulam Manjhi, a close relative of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, was arrested today in an old case of kidnapping a minor girl.
Police said a resident, who is a former ward councilor, had complained to Jehanabad town police station six months ago accusing Ghulam and his grandson of kidnapping his minor daughter and brutally assaulting her.

Patna: Police arrested Pramod Kumar, a prime accused in the murder of undertrial Guddu Singh, from Panchmahala police station area in Patna rural on Saturday. Barh additional superintendent of police Manoj Tiwary said Pramod was the father of the main accused, Monu, who was behind Guddu's murder in the Barh sub-divisional court premises on September 8.
Man kills wife
Biharsharif: A man allegedly killed his wife on Friday night for allegedly opposing his extra-martial relationship with another woman, said to be a resident of Sher Dhobitola in Nalanda district. Police said Pratima Kumari's husband Dheeraj Kumar killed his wife and then hanged her body to make it look like a case of suicide. A case of murder was lodged on the basis of the statement by a relative of the dead on Saturday. Dheeraj and her family members are absconding.
Liquor haul
Muzaffarpur: The police seized over 170 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs 10 lakh and arrested two bootleggers from Ahiyapur police station area in Muzaffarpur late on Friday. Anand Sahni and Ashish Ranjan told the police the consignment was brought to Muzaffarpur from Haryana.
Frauds held
Patna: Three youths were arrested on Saturday on Patna district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agrawal's directive after they arrived to join as chowkidars on the basis of forged documents. Santosh Kumar (Barh), Jagjivan Paswan (Khushrupur) and Munna Kumar (Belchhi) were later sent to jail.
Mock exam
Patna: A national mock examination was conducted by the urology department of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) under the aegis of Board of Education of Urological Society of India (USI) at IGIMS premises on Saturday. The Master of Chirurgical (MCh) and Diplomate of National Board (DNB) urology course students from all over the country participated in the programme, which aimed at helping students for their super-speciality course examination. President of USI, P.N. Dogra, a doctor at AIIMS-New Delhi, was among experts who conducted the examination. IGIMS director N.R. Biswas and medical superintendent P.K. Sinha were also present on the occasion.
School safety
Patna: The 9th battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Saturday organised an awareness-cum-training programme on school safety at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Danapur Cantonment. Experts talked about the importance of every school having a disaster management plan and the role and responsibility of school response teams among other issues.

Patna: Bihar Public School & Children Welfare Association on Saturday organised a Raj Bhavan march to protest against the recent clampdown on private schools by the district administration over absence of facilities like closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV).
