Patna, Sept. 22: Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, William Bentinck, the former governor-general of India, Karpoori Thakur, India cricket captain M.S. Dhoni and actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha have one thing in common.

They were, at some point in their life, associated with the country’s largest lender, State Bank of India.

Their association with the bank has been depicted through a “heritage gallery”, which would be inaugurated in Patna on September 24 to showcase the SBI’s history and its development through artefacts, documents, murals, paintings and photographs.

“The heritage gallery, spread across an area of 650sqft, would be formally opened for common people after its inauguration on Saturday by the bank’s managing director, A. Krishna Kumar,” SBI’s officer-on-special-duty Saloni Narayan told said today.

Umesh Mishra, the assistant general manager (public relations), said the gallery would be located at the Patna main branch at Gandhi Maidan.

Mishra said the gallery has tried to tell the story of the origin of SBI starting from Bank of Calcutta, set up in 1806.
