Patna, Feb. 7: A day after Mohammed Saahab — the accused in the kidnapping of Golakpur resident Mohammed Kamaal — was arrested again from Motinagar in New Delhi, the district police today presented the trio helping him escape from the lock-up before the media.
“The trio — Santosh Paswan, Avinash Kumar and Sanjay Rai — had helped Saahab to escape from the Pirbhore police station on January 28,” said senior superintendent of police (SSP) Alok Kumar.
Saahab is being brought to Patna from Delhi but the cops still have no clue on where Kamaal was.
The officer said: “Saahab has divulged a few things but Kamaal is yet to be recovered. At present, Saahab is being brought to Patna and interrogations will start again.”
The SSP said: “The police will interrogate Saahab and things will come out in the open. It is too early to comment about anything till the investigations are over.”
Police sources, however, claimed that Kamaal could have been killed by now.
The family members of Kamaal had lodged an FIR regarding his disappearance on January 24. They had named Mohammed Sahaab in the FIR, claiming that he and his friends had kidnapped Kamaal and later murdered him.
Besides Saahab, one Pinku, another accused in the alleged abduction case of Kamaal, was arrested on January 28.
Patna city superintendent of police Kim had told The Telegraph that Pinku confessed to have played a role in the murder of Kamaal.
“Pinku said Kamaal had been killed and his body was put in a sack and thrown into the Ganga. But for the police, this is still a claim, because Kamaal’s body has not been recovered yet. Unless the body is recovered, a person cannot be declared dead technically. The prime accused in the case has been arrested agains and will be thoroughly interrogated,” a police officer said.
