Patna, Nov. 19: This album has nothing to do with fond memories. Patna police, in a bid to arrange and maintain records of criminals operating in the state capital, are creating a series of “photo albums”.

The albums would include pictures and crime history of people who are either lodged in jail or have walked out of it.

Senior police officers feel the albums, once complete, would be very helpful for investigating officers in tracking an offender’s record and taking action. Patna senior superintendent of police Alok Kumar today told The Telegraph that the albums are almost 80 per cent complete with more than 3,000 photographs of troublemakers compiled in the past two months.

“When it comes to the monitoring a law offender, it’s important to have uniform and organised record which police can access easily. The police have started compiling the photos and information about people who are facing criminal charges. The album will include information about the person’s background, his family, address, contact numbers as well as the sections he has been booked under and the number of times he has been sent to prison,” the SSP said.

The officer said cops investigating any case can refer to these albums which would be updated every few days. Also the officer will have an online copy of all the photos and information incorporated in the album. So, an investigating officer can also look for information on the computer.

“In a majority of criminal incidents, the accused turn out to be habitual offenders who have served prison before. Investigating officers can find out everything about the accused in a short time. The album will save time and speed up police action. Moreover, if police suspect a person to be dangerous and want to arrest him under Crime Control Act (CCA), tracking him will become easy with the album,” the senior officer added.
