Motihari: A 30-year-old man was arrested for raping a seven-year-old girl at Jamal village in East Champaran district on Monday night.

This is the second assault on a minor in the north Bihar district since last month.

Police said the girl had gone to the village shop alone to buy some items when the accused, Mohammad Saheb, took her inside and raped her. The assault occurred under the Mufassil police station limits in East Champaran district.

"The accused fled from the scene and was later arrested," said Arvind Prasad, officer-in-charge of Mufassil police station. "The girl has been sent for medical check-up."

A case has been registered under sections of the IPC and relevant sections of Pocso Act.
