Ramakrishna statue for CJ Park

A statue of Ramakrishna Paramhansa was unveiled in CJ Park near the new swimming pool on February 20.

The 6.5-ft high statue has been moulded in fibre by Kumartuli artiste Amar Pal.

“This was a request from the residents of the ward. I too though that having a statue of Ramakrishna would bring a sense of calm in the neighbourhood,” said Krishna Chakraborty, the councillor of Ward 3 and chairperson of the Bidhannagar Municipality. 

A monk from Baranagar Ramakrishna Mission offered prayers and narrated anecdotes from the mystic’s life during the inauguration. The statue has been set up at a cost of Rs 3.5 lakh.
