Eastern Railway officials on Monday flagged off a new-look 12-coach local that would ply between Howrah and Bandel stations. Two more such rakes will run in the Sealdah division and they will be flagged off later in the week. The trains have a host of new features such as polycarbonate and fire retardant seats, GPS to allow real-time tracking, bigger windows, better fans and public announcement system in coaches, side-wall skin with special dull finish stainless steel sheet for a smart look, stainless steel grab handles and grab poles among others. An official said these rakes would soon replace the current ones. The Telegraph picture
