Every question paper possesses a unique identification number and includes a watermark that extends across the pages, a strategy intended to curb paper leaks, several school principals said after the first ISC (Class XII) exam on Thursday

Each question paper had a seal on the right.

“If there is a unique identity number in each question paper and a watermark in all pages, it will be identifiable by the board in case there is a paper leak,” said a principal of a school.

Metro on Tuesday reported that every question paper will have seals that candidates must break to read it.

On Thursday, question papers were distributed at 1.45pm, 15 minutes before the writing time. The first page contained only general instructions.

Except for the art papers, all other ISC exams begin at 2pm.

“We understand the seal is an additional safety protocol,” said Gargi Banerjee, principal, Sri Sri Academy.

For a larger student population, the exam will start on Friday with the compulsory English language paper.

“For a paper which has a larger number of students, the seal will ensure that all examinees start reading the question paper at the same time,” said Mousumi Saha, principal, National English School.
