They began their journey as a young screen couple back in 2010 with the daily soap Saat Paake Bandha on Zee Bangla. From the very first episode, their chemistry was undeniable, so much so that every Bengali household had their television sets tuned in just to watch them. The couple in question? None other than Vikram Chatterjee and Oindrila Sen, a pair whose charm and connection made them one of the most loved screen pairs on Bengali television. Their journey wasn’t a one-season wonder. After Saat Paake Bandha, both actors ventured into different territories, exploring the world of cinema, doing solo projects, and carving their individual paths. But destiny, or perhaps public demand, brought them back together with Phagun Bou in 2018, another mega serial that aired on Star Jalsha.

Once again, they captured hearts across Bengal, not only with their romantic pairing but also with their evolved on-screen bond, one that reflected years of personal growth and deeper connection. But just as fans were settling into their comfort zone of seeing Vikram and Oindrila as a fictional couple, the two once again drifted away from the small screen, taking on new roles in the big screen landscape. Still, their bond, that special, easy, fun-filled dynamic, never disappeared. In fact, it evolved into something even stronger: an innocent, genuine friendship that feels more like family.

And now, six years after their last TV appearance together, Vikram and Oindrila are making a grand comeback, not as an on-screen couple this time, but as co-hosts. This time, the dynamic duo will be hosting a non-fiction, fun reality show that is all about bonds — the romantic ones, the platonic ones, the familial ones, all kinds of relationships that make life beautiful. The yet-to-be-titled show airs in August and promises entertainment, light-hearted competition, and lots of laughter.

The format? Couples, not just romantic partners, but best friends, husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, and maybe even some Tollywood celeb pairs, will compete in hilarious and engaging challenges to prove just how strong their bond is.

On a rainy afternoon, t2 caught up with Vikram and Oindrila for a chat. While Vikram was calm and composed as always, Oindrila was her usual bubbly self. They have played romantic leads on screen, but what they truly share off-screen is something even more special: the rare bond of friendship.

Whether it’s Vikram accompanying the ever-adorable couple Ankush and Oindrila, or Oindrila showing up at Vikram’s film premieres to cheer him on, their friendship is genuine, warm, and rooted in mutual respect. The two are known for playing pranks on each other, pulling each other’s legs, and even annoying one another, but in the most affectionate way possible. As the chat drifted toward nostalgia, Oindrila recalled her first impression of Vikram from the Saat Paake Bandha sets. “He was so shy and didn’t know how to stand in front of a camera,” she laughed. “He kept asking questions about how to do ‘the actor things.’ I remember being so irritated, thinking, ‘How will this guy act?’ But slowly, things changed,” said Oindrila. But, as fate would have it, Vikram not only pulled it off, but he went on to become one of the most dependable actors in the industry.

Their bond really clicked over a small, sweet coincidence when Vikram asked Oindrila for her daak naam (nickname), and she replied, “Mou.” Turns out, that’s also the name of Vikram’s sister, and just like that, a connection was made. From then on, their working relationship blossomed into something more, a solid friendship. Oindrila has never addressed him with formality. “It’s impossible to call him ‘Vikram’ respectfully,” she giggled. “He’s just Viks!” said Oindrila.

Oindrila also recalled one memorable prank during the outdoor shoot of Phagun Bou. Vikram had to return to the city urgently before the day’s shoot ended. Oindrila, wanting to explore the location with her mom, pleaded with Vikram to stay one more day. A minor argument followed, with Vikram sticking to his decision to leave. But the next day brought a big surprise when Ankush showed up on set! It turned out to be a carefully orchestrated plan between Vikram and Ankush to surprise her. “I always try to prank them, but somehow I’m always the one getting pranked,” she chuckled.

Vikram, too, had stories to share. “Oindrila is very annoying,” he said playfully. “She never stops pulling my leg.” But beneath the teasing, his admiration for her is evident. “She’s always there when I need her. She shows up, no questions asked,” said Vikram. The bond they share is not just built on laughter and mischief but on genuine care and unwavering support. It’s rare to find co-actors who remain this connected off-screen, especially after more than a decade in the industry.

Oindrila echoed the sentiment, saying, "Apart from being a full-time prankster, Vikram is an incredible actor. But he’s also the most grounded person I know. He works with quiet dedication and makes everyone around him, whether friend or stranger, feel completely at ease. That’s what makes him special.”

As for the new show, both Vikram and Oindrila are equally thrilled. “This time, we’re not playing characters. We get to be ourselves — raw, unfiltered, and full of fun. Our friendship is quirky, filled with banter and love, and now we finally get to bring that to the screen. I think the audience will really enjoy seeing this version of us,” said Oindrila.

Their friendship is a refreshing reminder that sometimes the best connections are the ones that transcend traditional labels, where love is expressed through constant support, where teasing hides deep care and where the strongest relationships are built on friendship, loyalty, and laughter.

As they gear up to host what promises to be one of the most entertaining and never-before-seen reality shows on Bengali television, fans are in for a treat. And that’s the beauty of their return, not just the nostalgia of seeing Vikram and Oindrila together again, but the joy of witnessing a real friendship unfold onscreen. No characters. No story arcs. Just two people, having fun, cheering each other on, and guiding other duos through fun, madness, and memories. Whether it’s witnessing the duo’s effortless banter, watching couples compete in hilarious tasks, or simply soaking in the heartwarming energy of two best friends at work, this show is sure to strike a chord with audiences of all ages.

Vikram and Oindrila will guide other couples through fun-filled chaos, emotional moments, and everything in between. And who knows, maybe the real winners will be Vikram and Oindrila themselves.
