Wedding Diaries by The India Story — a Neotia Arts Trust initiative will be back at Swabhumi on July 26 and 27. This edition focuses on a floral theme, following previous nature-inspired themes such as butterflies. “Salon de Blume: A Symphony of Nature, Fashion, and Imagination” is the concept and will be interpreted through art and design.

The idea came to Madhu Neotia during one of her trips. “Travel opens our eyes to the world. On one of my journeys, I saw flowers used so exquisitely on the human form that the vision felt otherworldly — like a ‘midsummer night’s dream.’ I’ve long wished to bring this enchantment home, and with the immensely talented Baisakhi Ghosh, anything floral feels possible. With Salon de Blume, the Neotia Arts Trust reaffirms its commitment to celebrating creativity that transcends boundaries — honouring the rich storytelling of nature, interpreted anew through visionary artistry,” said Madhu, managing trustee, Neotia Arts Trust.

Baisakhi Ghosh explained her inspiration behind putting together Salon de Blume at the Wedding Diaries this year. “Flowers have long inspired fashion, transcending centuries and cultures. The tactile presence of nature was the original couture. Early humans adorned themselves with leaves and petals, while in ancient Greece, floral garlands symbolised honour and divinity. In India, floral motifs have been central to both spirituality and artistry, appearing in textiles, murals, and jewellery throughout history, from the Indus Valley Civilisation to the ornate designs of the Mughal era.

The Benarasi sari remains a celebrated example of India’s floral artistry, besides phulkari and chintz. Mughal shawls, Japanese kimono and baroque gowns — all reflected nature... Overall, the versatility and artistic expression of floral designs highlight their timeless appeal. It celebrates femininity like no other. Every bloom tells a story, reminding us that fashion is more than about adornment; it reflects our connection to the natural world," she said.

‘Salon de Blume’ aims to blend French elegance with Indian artistry. Designed as a multisensory experience, guests will embark on a visual journey through a floral maze — an immersive celebration of craftsmanship, precision, and fantasy. Tradition will seamlessly intertwine with innovation, showcasing a harmonious meeting of nature and imagination.

"Madhu (Neotia) manages to rope me in for all things TIS (The India Story), including Wedding Diaries, which is quite humbling. So this edition brings in something cosy, personal and very couture in its presentation. When you collaborate with creative minds like Baishakhidi, you end up visualising a show which is classical in nature, yet there is space for being up close and personal. Salon de Blume is an exploration of high fashion and jewellery in an intimate setting," said Nil of designer duo Dev and Nil, Madhu's "go-to person when it comes to doing all things extraordinary".
