Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: Two of the biggest names in the Odia film industry - Anubhav Mohanty and Babushan - will go head to head against each other this Dussehra.
Anubhav Mohanty and Jhilik Bhattacharjee starrer Jaga Hatare Pagha will compete with Bhala Pae Tate 100 Ru 100 with Babushan and Seetal in the lead roles.
While the former is a love story on the emotional bond between a mother and son as a sub plot, the latter portrays a love triangle.
Anubhav Mohanty, 33, could not be contacted for comments. His last film with real-life partner Barsha Priyadarshini - Gapa Hele Bi Sata - was released in June this year but failed to captivate the viewer's imagination and has become a regular feature on private television channels.
Babushan, 26, was last seen in Super Michua opposite Jhilik. The film received positive response from the audience.
Bengali beauty Jhilik Bhattacharjee is quite upbeat about the film. While she has already acted with stars such as Babushan and Arindam, this is her first role opposite Anubhav.
"There is a lot of action and drama in the film and is ideal for a family watch. My character is very rowdy," said the actress who debuted with Target opposite Amlan.
The cast and crew of the have pinned their hopes on the release.
"We have been to a number of picturesque locations during the shooting. We are hopeful of a positive response from the audience," said Jhilik.
The film also stars Elina Samantray in a major role.
The makers of Bhala Pae Tate 100 Ru 100 have promised full on entertainment.
"The film has good music and a lot of comic moments, ideal for the festive season when people want films full of fun and pleasure," said director Sudhansu Mohan Sahoo.
The film also stars newcomer Suryamayi and will be released by Sarthak Films.
Film distributors believe producers cash in on the festive mood to release their films. Dussehra is a prominent Odia festival but lack of theatres has become a problem.
While the number of films produced has increased, the number of theatres has gone down considerably. There are only around 80 theatres functioning in the state, including six in Cuttack and seven in Bhubaneswar.
"The problem has become evident in the past few years. With three to four films releasing during the same time, none of them will be able to gain profit properly," said film distributor Swagat Kar.
Another Odia film Kalki, starring Arndam and Riya was slated to be released during the same time. But the producers have reportedly postponed the released to avoid the festive rush.
